Nafshenu’s Zoom Torah study class Thursday night looks at Kol Nidre, the opening section of the Yom Kippur evening service. Early rabbis – and modern ones, too – have tried to keep it out of the liturgy, but popular demand
kept it in. What is Kol Nidre? A public communal disavowal of promises and vows made by members of the congregation. Is that a terrible idea, or one way to get on a new path, like an ethical bankruptcy declaration?
Please consider joining us Thursday, 7pm, to look at the Kol Nidre text, its origin, history, and possible meanings for today. Here’s the Zoom link: bit.ly/NafTorah. – Rabbi David

Things are looking up in Nafshenu’s meeting place at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church. We’re doing some decorating to make our portable sanctuary feel like a spiritual
Jewish setting. You’ll get a look at our YOM KIPPUR observances: Kol Nidre at 7pm Sunday (Sept. 24), Morning Service and Yizkor at 10am Monday (Sept. 25), and Ne’ilah and break fast at 6:30/7:30pm Monday). Please let us know you’re coming by registering at nafshenu.org/events.

We had a very interesting Torah study session last month led by Nafshenu member Etty Lassman. It dealt with the wide range of laws contained in the Torah portion Ki Teitze (Deuteronomy 21:10-25:19). Etty put together sources and graphics in a slide show, and I
highly recommend giving it your attention. Here’s a link: bit.ly/NafKiteitze.
