It’s a tough time to be Jewish. It’s been a while since we in the Nafshenu community have gotten together in real life.
That’s why I’m so excited to announce a program next week that
combines the healing power of music with the healing power of human interaction – and the healing power of food.
Shayna Goldberg, a young but experienced singer and guitarist, will join us Friday, Nov. 17, 6-8pm, for a musical kabbalat Shabbat of Healing. Shayna is a veteran of Reform Judaism’s song-leader
education programs and of Conservative Judaism’s Camp Ramah. She will join me (Rabbi David) as we fight despair with the power of song. PLEASE MARK YOUR CALENDAR AND CHECK EMAIL FOR DETAILS.
Who is Shayna? Ask her mom:
“Shayna
sang before she talked,” Laura Goldberg said in an interview published last year. “She did her first talent show in elementary school – probably second grade – when she got up with a pink guitar and sang Miley Cyrus’s song “The Climb.” The crowd went wild.”
She and I will lead Nafshenu in musical selections from the prayer book, using melodies as old as Sinai
and as new as today. Please join us!
