This week in Parshat Shoftim -
It continues to feel like the Jewish people are on the cusp of entering the land of Israel after many long years of wandering in the desert, but first they must work through some significant challenges. After living in slavery for multiple generations, things like - setting up a government, choosing a leader, enacting laws and
punishments, forming religious structures - were sure to be incredibly difficult. This difficulty is compounded by the fact that Moses and Aaron will not be joining their people in Israel. In our Parsha this week, Moses lays out a framework to follow when he’s gone - from which the Jewish people will build their new nation.
