Some thoughts from Rabbi David on learning at
Nafshenu
Let's try something a little different. For the next few weeks, our Thursday Torah study will look beyond the Five Books of Moses to the Hebrew Bible as a whole. We'll cover the week's Torah portion (this week, Terumah, Exodus 25:1-27:19, on donations for building the Tabernacle) in the context of the Hebrew Scriptures overall.
I want to spotlight meaningful and interesting parts of the Bible's other sections (Prophets and Writings). Parts 2 and 3 of the Bible include self-help advice, love poetry, post-Exodus history and legends; and prophetic cries of outrage against injustice. This week's source sheet bit.ly/Naf2-27 gives an idea of the new approach.
If you haven't done so in a while, please consider dropping in for tomorrow's class. It runs 7-8pm, and the Zoom link is bit.ly/NafTorah. Each class stands on its own.
We'll be meeting each Thursday through Passover:
March 6, 13, 20, and 27; and April 3, 10, and 17. I'll be sending a link to source sheets on Mondays ahead of that week’s class.
