REMINDER and SIGNUP

Please join Nafshenu's weekly Zoom Bible study class this evening, 7-8pm. I'm focusing on three timely and connected Jewish practices: 

--The nightly counting of the Omer to mark the 50 days between the start of Passover and the holiday of Shavuot.

--Lag B'Omer, or the 33rd day of the  Omer, considered a prime day for weddings and celebrations.

--Shavuot, in both its commemorative (the giving of the law at Sinai) and agricultural (first barley harvest) aspects. -- Rabbi David

 Here are final details on our S'more-themed Lag B'Omer celebration and Shabbat potluck this Friday:

We're starting at 6:30pm at Prince of Peace in Marlton. Fire safety issues mean we'll be oven-roasting our marshmallows for the s'mores. We'll stage a virtual fire circle as we hear the story of the holiday that marked a peaceful interlude in the tragic Second Jewish Revolt against the Roman Empire. 

Shabbat candle lighting, kiddush and a potluck dinner will follow.

While the 2nd century CE Bar Kochba revolt ended disastrously for our people, Lag B'Omer marks an occasion when the Jewish resisters were able to find joy amid the struggle.
