from Rabbi David
It may be hard for us to summon the joy we're expected to bring
to our Purim celebration this year. As Israelis gather in bomb shelters, we plan to dress up, sing, read the story of Esther and Mordecai's heroism, and, of course, eat and drink.
I can tell you this, though: Purim will go on
in Jerusalem, Tel Aviv, Haifa and smaller communities across the Israel, even if the celebrations are underground. Children in biblical or superhero costumes will entertain their friends and families. And people will repeat the tale set in ancient Persia, an empire centered in what is now Iran and that included the land of Israel.
Let's keep their courage and resilience in mind as we celebrate in the safety of South Jersey.
Please join us at Prince of Peace Church, 6-8:30pm TONIGHT. Wear a costume, share a potluck meal, and keep our Jewish heritage alive.
Best wishes to all of you! -- Rabbi David Goodman, 248-508-0874, rebdovid@nafshenu.org
