It will be hard to top last week
at Nafshenu. First, the book club gathered Friday night for a stimulating discussion of “The Song of the Jade Lily,” a novel based on the Jews who sought refuge in Shanghai during the Holocaust. Then, close to 30 of us turned out for Saturday morning’s children-and-adult service under the tent at Prince of Peace Church.
Still, we have some
learning+socializing events this week that should be fun for those who can make them.
On Thursday night, we’ll meet in
person (with a Zoom option) for the weekly Torah study. We’ll be looking at some sisters who challenge the male-centric laws of inheritance – and win, when God tells Moses to listen to what the daughters of Tzelopehad have to say. It’s a rare “rose of gender equity” amid the thorns of the patriarchal biblical world. The discussion of Parashat Pinchas (Numbers 25:10-30:1) runs from 7-8 p.m.
Then Friday evening, we’re having
a potluck with some Shabbat songs and blessings on the patio of one of our Nafshenu members. It’s a beautiful spot where adults and children can relax and enjoy each other’s company at the end of a busy week. Please join us at 6:30 p.m.
